WELCOME!

Thank you for visiting Animals at Heart. Animals at Heart is a 501c3 non-profit charity dedicated to all aspects of responsible pet ownership. This is the place for pet owners, shelter workers, and anyone interested in the welfare of pets to come and participate in improving the quality of life for pets everywhere!

Our mission at Animals at Heart is to educate the community about all aspects of animal welfare - from the pros and cons of declawing your cat to the controversial no-kill vs. kill shelter debate. Here you'll find articles written by people with firsthand experience in animal welfare who can provide a glimpse inside the hidden world of shelter life that most of the general public never sees.

Thanks for visiting and for having Animals at Heart!

Animals at Heart

Have you heard about our online Community?  Let's face it...."animal people" are a  different breed. We're often misunderstood and frequently laughed at when we talk about our pets as though they're our children. That's why we started a Facebook group dedicated to our breed of people where we can talk about our babies with others who understand. Here you can join in our conversations taking place in the Discussion Boards,  read and post notes or stories, and hang out with other pet-people like yourself!  Visit today to get the latest news in the animal community and contribute your own!

  Memorial Gardens

We at Animals at Heart understand how devastating the loss of a pet can be. That's why we created the Memorial Gardens.  The Gardens  offer pet owners a peaceful place to remember their pets and where families and friends can sign the pet's guest book. Beginning March of 2004, the Memorial Gardens is also open to memorials for people,  so that those who loved animals can be remembered and honored with the animals they loved so much. Dog Bite University was developed to educate the public about dog bites and what can be done to prevent them. The Animals at Heart website provides helpful information for parents and pet owners on how to prevent bites and attacks. Our goal with these programs is to decrease the number of bite related injuries and deaths as well as to reduce the number of non-aggressive dogs that are euthanized as a result of a preventable bite incident.
