I was so blessed to have Niko in my life for six and a half years.  He died two years ago from pneumonia and it was so, so difficult.  I am still sorry for how he had to suffer in the end.  I hope he is now playing on Rainbow Bridge with some friends, all the while keeping an eye on me, as he always did.

Niko, your human family will always remember you.  Some of us think of you all the time....  Aunt Sandy, your Grandma and of course, me, your person.  Watch for me, we will be together again someday.  Thank you for your love.

We named him Oliver for "Oliver Twist", an orphan. He came yelling at our door and I started putting out food and water for him, and then a heating pad when the cold winter set in. He was feral and all alone.  I found him along the side of the road in February...he had been killed by a car. My plea is to all who think that cats can fend for themselves outside: Please do not let your cats go out. They will die at a young age or become feral like Oliver. I miss Oliver...please take care of your kitties and protect them.
